Swansea City's formidable home defence faces a stern test against Burnley this week. The Swans are the only Championship side yet to concede a goal at home this season, having kept three consecutive clean sheets at their stadium.
That impressive run will be challenged by a Burnley side that has dominated recent meetings. Burnley have won each of the last four league games against Swansea, including both of their last two visits to Wales. The Clarets have struggled to start the season, failing to win any of their opening six games outside the top flight for just the fourth time in their history.
Defensive contrast
While Swansea's defence has been watertight, Burnley's has been the leakiest in the division. They have conceded a league-high 13 goals this season. Their expected goals against figure is a more respectable 8.6, suggesting they have been unlucky. The difference of 4.4 between actual goals conceded and the xGA model is the biggest negative gap in the Championship.
Swansea's own form has been solid, placing them third in the table with 11 points from six matches. Their recent run reads two wins, two draws and one loss. The most recent result was a 3-1 defeat away to Southampton last weekend, where Zane Vipotnik scored a penalty for the Swans.
Looking at the standings, Swansea sit just three points behind leaders West Ham. They face a quick turnaround with an away trip to 19th-placed Lincoln on September 19th. Manager Vitor Matos will be without defenders Cameron Burgess and Gonçalo Franco for the upcoming fixtures.
A victory would see Swansea match a club record set in the 2011-12 Premier League season, when they kept a clean sheet in their opening four home matches.
