Swansea City have agreed a season-long loan deal for Manchester City midfielder Jeremy Monga. The 17-year-old is set to join Vitor Matos's squad before Tuesday's 23:00 BST transfer deadline.

Swansea currently sit 3rd in the Championship with seven points from three games, two points behind leaders Charlton. They have scored five goals and conceded just one, remaining unbeaten with a recent form of WDW. Their next fixture is at home against Watford on Tuesday night.

Jeremy Monga is a highly-rated England Under-19 international who signed a five-year contract with Manchester City earlier this summer. He made his senior debut at just 15 for Leicester City during the 2024-25 campaign. Last season, he made 30 Championship appearances for Leicester and became the youngest goal scorer in the league's history when he netted in a 2-1 loss to Preston North End in August 2025. Hugo Viana, City's director of football, described Monga as an "exciting player" and added he has "already made huge strides in his young career."

The arrival of Monga adds another option to a midfield group that already includes Jay Fulton, Melker Widell, and Marko Stamenic. Swansea have been active in the market, having already signed Canada international Stephen Eustaquio from Porto and New Zealand's Elijah Just from Motherwell this summer. Moussa Yeo, another summer addition, can also operate as an attacking midfielder. The club's current squad shows depth, but they have also seen departures, with Ethan Galbraith sold to Stoke City earlier this summer.

Injury concerns persist, with Goncalo Franco sidelined until October after ankle surgery and Cameron Burgess also currently unavailable. The loan move for Monga provides fresh talent as the club manages its resources through a busy period.

Swansea are also close to completing a move for Huddersfield Town midfielder Tom Iorpenda. Meanwhile, defender Leo Walta is set to leave on loan, with a move to Major League Soccer side Los Angeles being finalized. Walta joined Swansea on loan from Swedish club Sirius in February, and his move was made permanent earlier this summer. He made 10 league appearances towards the end of last season, scoring once on the final day against Charlton Athletic, but has been limited to substitute roles this campaign.

These adjustments come as Swansea look to maintain their strong early-season form. Their solid defensive record, with only one goal conceded, is a platform they will want to build upon. Fans can track the team's progress in the standings as the season develops.

The immediate focus returns to the pitch, with Watford visiting on Tuesday. Securing Monga's signature adds a dynamic, young option to the ranks for the remainder of the campaign. His integration will be watched closely as Swansea aim to close the two-point gap to the top of the table. The club's activity before the deadline suggests a clear intent to compete at the higher end of the Championship this season.
