Adam Idah's scoring rate is catching the eye at Swansea City this season. The Republic of Ireland striker has netted three times in five league starts, finding the net every 122 minutes he has been on the pitch.
Head coach Vitor Matos is delighted with the form of both Idah and fellow forward Zan Vipotnik. The pair have started seven league games between them this term, contributing five goals as Swansea have climbed to second in the Championship with 14 points from seven matches.
"I like a lot both players," Matos said. "Both offer different things, both are working hard for the team."
Impressive numbers
Idah's current form continues a strong record since joining from Celtic. Last season, despite a serious hamstring injury limiting him to 11 starts, he managed 10 league goals. His minutes-per-goal rate of 138 was narrowly bettered by Vipotnik's 128, creating a healthy competition for the starting role.
This campaign, the roles have reversed slightly. Idah has started five of the seven league games, with Vipotnik beginning two. The Slovenian has still been effective, scoring twice at a rate of one goal every 133 minutes.
Their contributions were clear in the recent 3-1 win over Burnley. Idah opened the scoring in the 13th minute, and Vipotnik added a third in the 68th, securing three vital points.
Building momentum
Swansea's strong start, with a record of four wins, two draws and one loss, has been built on a solid defence and efficient attack. The team has scored 11 goals and conceded just five, giving them the second-best goal difference in the division.
Matos believes the collective commitment is key to maintaining this form. "Then it's about professionalism, understanding each other and understanding that if all of them - not only the strikers, but midfielders as well - are committed with one idea, for sure good things will come," he added.
The squad's depth is being tested, with defender Cameron Burgess currently sidelined. Fans can check the latest availability on the club's injuries page.
Swansea travel to Sincil Bank to face Lincoln City on Saturday, 19 September, looking to extend a recent run of three wins from their last five games.
