Swansea City has launched a new Supporter Advisory Board (SAB) to bring fans closer to the club’s decision-making process. The initiative follows consultations with the Swansea City Supporters’ Trust and the Football Supporters’ Association (FSA), with applications now open for individual supporters and supporter groups. The Swans currently sit 7th in the Championship with 3 points from 1 game, having scored 2 goals and conceded 1 so far this season.
What is the Supporter Advisory Board?
The SAB will operate independently of the club and the Trust, replacing the previous Matchday Experience Working Group. It will have up to 12 representatives-six from supporter groups and six democratically elected individuals-who will meet with key decision-makers four times per season to provide guidance and insight.
Why is this important for Swansea City?
Jane Hughes, the FSA’s EFL networking manager, highlighted the importance of fan engagement, stating, “The SAB will make fans an integral part of the decision-making process.” Tom Gorringe, Swansea City CEO, added, “The fan voice is vital in football, and this board will ensure supporters have a greater say in how the club is run.”
How can fans get involved?
Applications for the SAB are now open, with further details about expectations, remit, and terms of reference available on the club’s website. The board aims to improve transparency and accountability while ensuring diverse viewpoints are represented in key decisions.
