Swansea City Near Left-Back Loan Move

Swansea City boss Vitor Matos has confirmed that the club is close to finalizing a loan signing for a left-back. The move comes as the Swans look to provide cover for their first-choice left-back, Josh Tymon, who has been playing consistently in recent matches.

Matos stated during a post-match press conference following the pre-season win over Leganes that the club is 'really close' on securing this back-up. "It would be a loan," he added, emphasizing the temporary nature of the signing.

Strengthening Squad Depth

The manager also outlined his broader plans for strengthening the squad in light of recent departures. Midfield depth has become a priority following the exits of Ethan Galbraith and Liam Cullen this summer. Despite unsuccessful bids for Yacine Titraoui from Charleroi, reports suggest that Andre Almeida from Valencia could still be a target.

Matos remained tight-lipped about potential signings: "It's rumours," he said. "When we have something we're going to announce it. That's what we've been doing."

He further elaborated on the club's approach, saying, "There are a lot of rumours, but when there's something concrete we will announce it." The manager highlighted the importance of evaluating player profiles that fit their playing style.

Future Plans and Young Talent

Matos also addressed the need for depth in other areas. He mentioned midfield as one such area where additional cover is required due to recent departures. Additionally, he expressed satisfaction with young talent like Carter Heywood but acknowledged the need to nurture and protect him: "Today at 17, he was playing against a good competitive team, so it was really good to see. So there are one or two more places where we need that depth and then we'll see."

The club is actively following various player profiles in the market, aiming to enhance their squad's overall strength.
