Lee Trundle has revealed there was past transfer interest in him from Lincoln City. The Swansea City legend made the admission while praising the club's current side, who sit first in the Championship with 17 points from eight games.

Trundle, who scored 86 goals for the Swans between 2003 and 2007, confirmed the historical link when asked about it directly. "There was talk," he said. The former forward, now 49 and playing for Cwmbrân Town, elaborated that Lincoln's interest came during his time with non-league sides Burscough and Chorley, with then-manager John Beck keen.

He signed his first Football League deal at the age of 25 with Wrexham, having previously played for Stalybridge Celtic, Southport, and Rhyl. Trundle later had spells at Bristol City and Leeds United before returning to Wales with Llanelli Town and Neath. Known as a maverick talent who loved engaging with supporters, he remains a popular figure at the Swansea.com Stadium.

His comments come as the modern Swansea team enjoys a strong start to the season. They are on a two-game winning run, most recently beating Lincoln City 2-1 last Saturday with goals from Moussa Kounfolo Yeo and Stephen Eustáquio.

Current striker Liam Cullen has previously cited Trundle as the player he wanted to emulate. The club's current top scorer is Adam Idah with three goals. Cameron Burgess remains the only player currently sidelined.
